Characteristics of Radio 1
Radio One now is aimed predominately at younger demograph- 25 and under. This is shown through the differnent music they play and the presenters they have. The UK Top 40 is presented on Radio 1 and is mostly listened to by younger listeners as the music is more modern and mainstreem- e.g. a 40 year old would not listen to Lady Gaga! Show's like switch are directly aimed towards teenage listeners, whilst various other radio 1 shows like the Chris Moyles show is more comedy based and aimed towads youger listeners on their way to work in the morning. Another characteristc of Radio 1 is that there are many dffernet shows to connect with different music ect that people like. E.g dance music on a saturday night to correspond with people out clubbing, and on the opposite end of the spectrum, the Radio 1 Rock show, for people into rock music. However radio 1 also has a 'News Beat' every hour to keep listeners updated with current news affairs. The main characteristic f Radio 1 is that it is music based, all the different shows and presenters correspond with the differnet music they reprresent; for example Westwood hosts a show for R'N'B and hiphop. Overall Radio 1 caters for a variety of people by having lots of different kind of shows, in comparison to something like Radio 4 which is more discussion based.

Switch -targeted audience
This picture is aimed directly at teenagers. This is shown by having aspects of the page, like 'The Sugery -helping with exam stress' this aims directly at a teenae target audience by helping with general day to day teenage stresses and exams, directlty addressing teenagers and things associated with being one. A game called "confuse the teacher" associating teachers and school which is directly linked with teenage life. The presenterd 'Annie and Nick' have very edgy and young styles, which would also appeal to the teenage audience, the page also tries to aim at teenagers by having a bebo, facebook and myspace pages- generally something which most teenagers use and talk on so trying to link and talk directly with their target audience. Their is also a link to 'house bands' associating with music and what teenagers are currently into.
